Adding some greens to your smoothie is an excellent choice for healthiness and a sneaky way to get your veggies in. However, unfortunately you can’t just throw a handful into any old smoothie and turn it into a tasty green smoothie recipe. They do not always taste even close to good if you do that. If you stick to the 60/40 ratio, then chances are it will taste good enough to eat. That is 60% fresh, ripe fruits and 40% leafy greens. If you are not feeling bold enough to try out your own green smoothie recipe, then stick with one of these delicious green smoothie recipes for a safe choice and a good blend for green smoothie starters.

Other things to consider before starting your green smoothie recipe extravaganza are: the type of blender you have, fresh vs. frozen fruits, and add-in boosters. Make sure your blender is up to date with sharpened blades too. Otherwise your green smoothie will look like it has grass in it. Try to use frozen fruits instead of ice whenever possible because this will lead to a more nutrient-rich smoothie. You can also add in any natural booster, like chia seeds or hemp protein powder, for a meal replacement smoothie.
