Most recommendations for hair dryers are geared towards people with thick hair looking for a perfect blow-out. I get it, my friends with thick and curly hair spend loads of time with hair dryers. However, I have been searching for the best hair dryer for fine thin hair since my teens. Really, all I’ve ever wanted is hair like the gal’s below. Thick hair in perfect waves that stays put after I dry it.
Quest to Find the Best Hair Dryer for Fine Thin Hair
I’ve had a mini war with my hair since I was a little girl. I’ve always wanted what I couldn’t have. I desperately wanted hair like Farrah’s when all my hair wanted to do was lay flat and straight. I was convinced a good hair dryer and some product would fix it. I’ve more or less come to terms with my hair. Aided by the ebb and flow of hair styles over the years, a busy life, and reality. While I may have stopped fighting my the truth that I have fine thin hair, I can’t just use any old dryer. I still need and want to find the best hair dryer for fine thin hair so I can make the most of what I’ve got. I’ve made the mistake of buying the top of the line professional hair dryer. Not only was it heavy and loud, it was also so strong the high setting actually made giant rats nets in my hair. Big waste of money. Unfortunately, the power of a dryer’s motor doesn’t necessarily correspond to the air flow out of the hair dryer. On my quest, I started being careful about what problems the manufacturer stated they were addressing and also checking out how the best reviewers described their own hair.

Elchim 3900 Healthy Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer
Of all the hair dryers I’ve tried, this is my absolute favorite. It has all the standard stuff you can expect from a professional grade hair dryer: Three temperature settings and two power settings along with a cool shot. Unlike a lot of professional grade hair dryers it’s not too heavy. The Elchim is designed to keep the motor insulated so it isn’t too loud if having a quiet hair dryer matters to you. Power is great allowing me to dry and style my hair quickly and use both the strong and low setting. >>> Checkout for Prices, Reviews and Delivery options for the Elchim 3900 Healthy Ionic Ceramic Hair Dryer
RUSK Engineering W8less Professional 2000 Watt Dryer
The Rusk is super light and like the Elchim has all the professional bells and whistles: Three temperature settings and two power settings along with a cool shot. It also has Tourmaline which can mean a slightly shinier finish. The one downside for me was that lighter weight seemed to mean less sound dampening. >>> Checkout for Prices, Reviews and Delivery options for the RUSK Engineering W8less Professional 2000 Watt Dryer
Handcrafted Professional Ionic Hair Dryer
This handcrafted hair dryer from France is pretty awesome too. Three heat settings two power settings. At 1600 watts it uses less power than some but is engineered to deliver solid flow to your hair. I also liked that I could turn the Ionic blast on and off. Sometimes ionic can mean smooth but flat. >>> Checkout for Prices, Reviews and Delivery options for the Professional Ionic Hair Dryer
All that said I haven’t given up on having big hair every so often. If I want that setting my hair in rollers with a standing hair dryer is probably one of the only surefire options. Even then I need to cross my fingers for a low humidity day.
